VARIOUS AGENCIES THROUGHOUT TOMPKINS COUNTY

The Tompkins County Highway Department is seeking approximately ten to fourteen individuals to fill the title of Seasonal Worker. Seasonal Workers will work throughout the 2018 construction season and will assist other staff in construction and maintenance by providing manual labor, flagging on road repair crews, performing specific sign shop assignments, conducting traffic counts, etc.  The position is not benefits eligible, but does pay $13.94 per hour.  During the summer, the Highway Department works four ten-hour days each week, so you would enjoy three-day weekends all summer long.  This is a Labor Class civil service appointment - meaning no civil service test and at-will employment.

Tompkins County Facilities is seeking one individual to perform grounds work...mowing... weed eating.. and other maintenance duties as required.  The position is not benefits eligible, but does pay $13.94 per hour. 

The Town of Ithaca will be recruiting 7-10 full-time seasonal Workers to perform routine physical work in areas such as highways, water & sewer, parks & trails and facility maintenance.  The work requires physical endurance and a willingness to perform strenuous tasks.  The work is performed under direct supervision.  40 hours per week from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday for a maximum of 25 weeks of employment between dates of April through November at the hourly wage of $15.25.

The Tompkins County Soil and Water Conservation District is recruiting for 2 seasonal workers to perform the following functions:  Operates a pickup in support of project operations; Collects water samples and other water monitoring data; Load and operate hydroseeder for county hydroseeding program; Utilizes survey and GPS equipment to inventory and map culverts, catch basins, ditches, waterways, diversions and other conservation practices under direction of a supervisor; Support Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention Program by posting permit signage along treated waterways, collecting water quality samples; Support Agricultural Environmental Management Program by collecting/compiling field data and maps; May be required to clean and maintain vehicles/equipment; Interact with partner agencies, to every reasonable extent, in accomplishing the goals of the District; Performs any and all routine labor as directed by a supervisor. Soil and Water pays $15.00 per hour.
