Caseworker

Minimum Qualifications

In order for County Personnel to determine a candidate's eligibility for a position the applicant must document in writing on the application how they meet the minimum qualifications related to the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Counseling; OR,

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree that includes 12 college credits in human services, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, social welfare, gerontology, or criminal justice; plus one (1) year paid full time, or its part time equivalent, experience in direct service social casework with a public or private agency; OR,

(C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree; plus two (2) years paid full time, or its part time equivalent, responsible public contact experience in a social welfare or community oriented organization as an Examiner, Child Care Visitation Worker, or Child Care Worker; OR,

(D) Any equivalent combination of education and experience, equal to or greater than, described in (A), (B) and (C) above.

NOTE:  All applicants placed on an eligible list as a result of this examination must, at the time of interview, sign a release under Section 424 of the Social Services Law. This release authorizes an inquiry to the New York State Control Register of Child  Abuse and Maltreatment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTPossession of a valid New York State driver's license at the time of appointment and maintenance of such license for the duration of employment.
